My final purpose is to open multiple excel files in multiple instances. The checkbox for "Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange DDE " has long been associated with problems launching Excel by double-clicking a file. In extreme cases, Excel will launch with an empty husk where the file should be.

  4. But opening the application by means of a start menu or shortcut to the application and then doing a File Open for the document will work. See attached screen shots, this works for all versions of Windows and Office or The registry entries will only exist if a Group Policy Administrative Template was used.
